早前胡應湘說「如果遊行成功爭取，就是暴民政治，不是法治。」聽說因為這句話，曲線推動 12.4 的遊行。

If you think that having 1 million people on the streets on 4/12 is going to make the CCP give HKers election rights in 2008, that’s just plain stupid. Demonstrating peacefully doesn’t ACTUALLY achieve anything, the only form of demonstration that achieves something is by RIOTING, beating the government into submission.
喂，但你卻可不能因為胡博士的經商模式有異於LSK，又或是因為年紀老邁又或是過往作風而幫他解畫到咁喎。不知道在胡博士的眼中，甘地是不是暴民？馬丁路金又是不是暴民？
我想，大部份參加過過走7.1 遊行的香港人都知道，遊行是十分富「香港特色」，除了和平進行之外，氣氛也熱鬧如嘉年華會，我真不明白，為甚麼走到街上就等於暴民？香港人都無燒警車或拋土製菠蘿！？

We aren’t him, and therefore if we don’t have any explanation from him personally, we can only guess why he said what he said, in terms of what his personalities are, his background, and how he goes about business. We can catch glimpse of his life philosophy from how he does things.
Although action speaks more than words, to a pragmatic person, actions must be practical in order to achieve their effects. I think his point is - demonstrating like this isn’t going to acieve anything, from his point of view. In his view such actions are impractical.
Of course, no one saids he’s right, and he can be wrong, Ghandi and Dr. King both suceeded. HKers can go and prove him wrong.
We may also want to look at the opponent as well - Ghandi vs. UK, King vs. US, HK democratic movement vs. CCP.
I keep myself away from all this, I’m merely fascinated by why people reacted to him like this. He’s merely a businessman.

胡應湘這等香港右派的說法、想法固然保守得過份；但民主派的嘴面又好得多少?政府一句不合意，便一句:你是不是又想幾十萬人上街?不也是恐嚇乎?
