My Life as Open Source

Despite all my rage I am still just a rat in a cage

我聽到某些本地Mac user,連Mac OS 最新版本,OS Ten 發音喚作OS X,即是英文字母第二十四個的發音,OS X。

我希望那些自稱hardcore 的Mac user 知道,OS X 的X 是羅馬數字的X,是Ten。連個作業系統的英文發音都不清楚,簡直是羞辱你自己的智商。

如果我有新iPod,我一定會把蘋果二十多年來所有廣告入晒落iPod 度!!!!!Kevin Costner,HAL,1984,Get a Macintosh,Newton,Serious Computer, It Does More. It Costs Less,Think Different,1984 annual share-holder meeting,everything but the kitchen sink!還有The Simpsons 其中有Newton 的一集,SNL 的Mac ad spoof。

    為何不能叫 OS X (發音第二十四個英文字母), 我看你才是侮辱自己的智商吧!!

    新一代apple的作業系統便是以 UNIX作為基礎。事實上在美國或是

    台灣兩種念法都有人說~

    真是井底蛙 大陸人都這樣嗎?

    這位朋友,我看Steve Jobs 過往的keynote,他是稱作OS Ten,還請你參考wikipedia 有關OS X 發音的記載,我動怒是有根據的:

The character X is a Roman numeral and is officially pronounced “ten”, continuing the numbering of previous Macintosh operating systems such as Mac OS 8 and Mac OS 9. However, it is a common mistake to read it as the letter X and pronounce it “ex”. One possible reason for this interpretation is the tradition of giving Unix-like operating systems names that end with the letter “X” as an “ex” sound (AIX, HP-UX, IRIX, Linux, Minix, Ultrix, Xenix). Another possible reason is Apple’s tendency to refer to specific versions in print (for example, “Mac OS X version 10.4″).

    語言是能溝通就好
    不要太自命高尚
    大家都知道是第十版的系統
    只是在稱呼上有所差異而已

It would be fine for a layman pronounce OS X as OS (es). But for a so called “hardcore” Mac user, this is not acceptable.

你這個假扮的Steve Jobs,你除了罵人之外,你有沒有實質的證據證明Hardcore Mac Fans應該將Mac OS X的X讀作es?假如你catch到Steve Jobs在任何一次Presentation讀過Mac OS es我幫你含很都得!夠膽留真名!夠膽講不夠膽留名,要舔糞腦殘的是你吧!懦夫!睇你個樣就知你唔得啦!高傲都好過你無能啦!扯唔起!

Nikita is right, Jobs did say it should be pronounced as “Ten”, I was there at the keynote when he launched the Operating System.

Give credit when credit’s due, nobody wants others to pronounce their names wrongly, but of course, if you are ignorant, and cannot read properly, we can all forgive you.

But if you were told to be wrong, and still insist on being right, then you are just being an idiot, so, stop calling yourself hardcore, because that’s degrading the real hardcore mac users.

    Kelly,別理那種沒水準不懂禮貌的人了。我看他的文字用語就是台灣一些七年級生(民國七十年代出生)小孩的網路時興用語,通常我都是當這些人的“意見“如耳邊風的。
