My Life as Open Source

Despite all my rage I am still just a rat in a cage

Man, I have to admit that I’m the biggest fan of the puerile, ludicrous, absurdly Ignorant Columnist, hint: the type of people who know nothing about Mac [iPod] but still feel the need to write about them. The world would be a very dull place without him.

I tried to be not so combative, not “You’re a moron” things, because years after years I found constructive criticism would not change people’s tune a little, but more “I disagree with you, here’s why…” I hope he would listen.

ipod is fine, i m an ipod user too. it’s certainly not a poorly designed gadget but i m a bit reserved to call it the *best* music player.

i was working in the UI field, and personally i dont think its a matter of *taste* whether one can recognize how good the design of ipod is: you use it for a while, if it suits you and get along well with your daily activities, it’s then your cup of tea. but not everyone needs an ipod, a creative 128mb with buttons labelled like the VCR in my home is enough for my mom. i think when we talk about a design, we are not just focusing on how it appeals to the young generations.

and btw i am just incompatiable with itunes. itunes provides a seamless connection for updating the ipod, but it also provides way too similar interfaces for the library folder and the ipod folder. its been happening again and again that i intended to clear the songs in my hard drive library but i ended up saying goodbye to all my songs in ipod instead.

i think it’s fine for the ignorant columnist to blahblahblah in his/her own blog, but not on inmedia. i wonder why inmedia accepts that kind of…commentary(?) which could have (and already have) done a perfectly great job to evaporize the site’s credibility.

    你是否用了Auto-sync?是的話,可轉用「手動管理歌曲和播放列表」,下次刪除Library 的歌時,iPod 不會跟著同步。

All good design is an evolution of past success, I think Apple should be applauded for encouraging such a good design process in their ranks. No one can deny that the execution of these designs on iPod Nano are outstanding, with a level of thought in detail and materials that is second to none.

P.S. The wheel is still circular and I wonder if that’columnist’ also thinks it’s “丁點兒突破也沒有”?
