One finaly note: no Samsung, or you will regret it, it's as fragile as a little goldfish. If you just want a cheap notebook, then don't look at brands, if you want branded ones, then don't look at the price, the two are mutually contradicting... Anyway, if that PC notebook only ever stays at home, then I will suggest buying a PC instead: It's SO SO much cheaper to get some guy in mongkok to build you one then to buy a notebook; however, if your sister is thinking about moving it around, then you may have to look for branded but older models (like I did), which is obviously cheaper, I believe that old IBM models are quite cheap (and ugly). Expect $10000 - $15000 even for back models.
