我知道，小白沒十年八年資歷也沒資格稱為老兵，不過人家想不到用甚麼標題嘛。
之前曾想過連小白也跑Tiger，可是考慮過後，還是決定不升級了。因為小白現在跑Panther 也顯得有點吃力，更何況是Tiger？且看我的小白是內裡有甚麼：
2001 年生產
CPU 是500 MHz PowerPC G3
Ram 有320 MB
HD 是10 GB
CD-ROM
幾年前這樣的spec 是很吸引的，現在當然是乏力，其實我甚至有點後悔升級至Panther，去年「響應」蘋果免費換logic board 計劃(貪有新鮮Panther 贈送)，送小白入廠換零件，取機後看看，一個fresh install 的Panther 吃掉足足5 GB 容量，雖然我沒有甚麼大軟件要用，也沒有幾GB 文件，不過一個作業系統霸佔了HD 的一半，真有點不甘心。
上星期在eMac 用Erase and Install 的方法裝Tiger，裝好後看看，(印像中)Tiger 足足是10 GB！！我的小白確是與Tiger 無緣了。
記得哎啤曾說過，大意是我們的電腦雖然不是新貨，不過還是好好的，卻沒法「與時並進」，感覺像是被人遺棄了，唉，真無癮！

Hmm, if you pay a few more minutes attention and select what you what you to install, del unnecessary driver and language (which eat a lot of space), your ibook HD is absoultely okay for tiger: I install a extra copy tiger to a 4.06GB ext parition, which took me 2.38GB.

在eMac 上我只裝了中日英文，我看過語文版的容量，大概是78 MB一種，driver 就幾乎所有都裝了(怕將來有需要)，但我不知道原來瘦身後得2.38 GB！！！我現在個Tiger 豈不是勁超磅？哎呀！
不如你在wiki 寫一篇文出來分享一下「Tiger 大瘦身安裝法」吧，等我下一次試試。

Actually, HDD is probably the biggest bottle-neck on our little whites, try replacing it with a Hitachi 7200RPM unit (7K60 or the new 7K100), this helps, accordingly.
Oh yes, I will do this sooner or later on mine (an identical model of yours), just that my iBook is not with me at the moment, you may think think if it is worthwhile lor, personally I can still live with the iBook G3. The more fancy x86 notebooks I try, the more I like my trusty old white. =)

dermk4 is right. in fact my ibook have been running with a firewire HD @ home to get the most from the hardware
